Cloth Nappies

There are a huge range of modern cloth nappies out there these days. so which one is right for you?

First of all why choose cloth nappies?

This website is a great website with alot of the information you need to make this choice
http://www.realdiaperassociation.org/diaperfacts.php

If that hasn't sold you check out the info below:

Financial Choice
Disposable Nappies
Single use nappies at 39c each
(based on 10 changes a day for 3 months)   $354.90

Single use nappy at 52c each
(based on 6 changes a day for 27 months)   $2,579.85

One year night nappies for toddlers 87c each $317.55

Total cost of dispoable nappies for one child   $3,252.30
(costs sourced from ColesOnline June 2009)

So the choice is to spend $3,252.30 per child which if you have 3 children is $ 9,756.90

or you can pay a one off of between $500 & $600 saving you approx $9,156.90

Imagine all the things you could do with that money

So now you have made the choice that modern cloth nappies are the way to go, so which one do you choose. I will do a basic run down.

Pop In New Generation Reusable nappy

The Pop-In is a next-generation all-in-one nappy, in that the inner soaker attaches to the outer shell by means of poppers so you can take it apart (when you want to wash it) and put it back together (when you’ve washed and dried it before putting it on the baby). This nappy fits from new born right through to toilet training.

This is useful for a number of reasons. The first and overriding reason is that this makes the nappy really simple to put on and take off. If after you’ve washed and dried the nappies you take 5 minutes to popper them all back together (more tips on doing this quickly in the washing advice section) then you have a whole stack of nappies assembled and ready to put on your baby at changing time. No fussing around with putting a different inner into the outer you’ve just taken off. You take a nappy off your baby and replace it with a clean nappy, simple as that.
The nappy is comprised of 3 parts; the outer shell, the inner soaker and the insert, all of which popper together to form an all-in-one nappy. The inner soaker fastens to the outer shell with 2 poppers at the front and 3 at the back – you’ll find the popper sockets on the outer shell underneath the pockets.
We recommend at least 20 nappies. You’ll need more when your baby is small (a newborn baby goes through 8-10 nappy changes per day), and fewer as baby gets older (6-8 per day). The more nappies you have, the less often you need to wash. So if you have 20 nappies you’ll have about 2 days’ worth. This means you can wash them every second day. view the pop in nappy below

The Itti Bitti Nappy

itti bitti are well known for changing the way you think about cloth nappies and have done it again with the brilliant new bitti tutto!
After being bombarded with requests for an itti bitti one size/birth to potty nappy, we’ve spent over a year developing the best fitting one size nappy you can get – in our humble opinion of course ;)
We’ve eliminated the bulk associated with a lot of one size nappies and this cleverly designed nappy, fits neat and slim from birth (3kgs) right through to a 20kg child!
But we didn’t just design the best fitting one size nappy, we have solved the most common nappy issue – the dreaded ‘pooplosion’.
The bitti tutto has a complete internal gusset, protecting the sides and back – it’s our patented ‘poo fence’ which means you don’t need to worry about leaks and can use this nappy with confidence!

Baby Beehinds

These nappies are immensely popular due to their all round great fit and excellent absorbency.
They fit the average sized baby through from birth to toddlerhood, however very solid or tall toddlers may outgrow them earlier than a toddler of average height and weight.

nappy covers are soft and stretchy!... Baby BeeHinds nappy covers are really popular for use over Baby BeeHinds fitted nappies, however, they can also be used over other types of nappies including flat nappies (ie terry or flannel squares). They are soft and stretchy, with generous sizing so baby gets as much wear as possible from each particular size.
